Photo Concept & Art Direction
Developed social media content to integrate with Buffalo Jeans Spring “Influencer” campaign with a tight product focus featuring men’s denim, jackets, graphic tees and shirts with an emphasis on Transitional dressing & Spring Festivals.
This was one of my favorite projects as it made me really think abut what it's like to live in New York City. Kenneth Cole is an urban brand and the challenge was how to bring the outdoors into a studio setting. We brought in fairly heavy props ranging from iron gates to fire escape stairs and the kind of hand rails you might find in the subway station. Later, we went around Brooklyn and Queens shooting backgrounds for these emails.

About this project...
I walk my son to our neighborhood school every morning, so I see a lot of kids. I’m always interested by how they express themselves with their clothes. They’re unafraid to mix patterns, textures and colors, and I was inspired to make these kids the models and stylists for this personal project. I wanted one item that each kid could work with to make their own style and I chose the iconic black leather jacket.
I developed a creative deck with swipe illustrating the look I envisioned for the lighting, attitude, props, hair and styling inspiration and sent it to their parents. I asked for their children's help in styling 2-3 accessorized looks with items from their own closets and to choose a prop that says something about what they’re into right now. The content would be about a kid in a cool leather jacket and it would also reveal a little about what’s important to them. I worked with kids in their homes trying on jackets and pulling looks together. As I organized my styling photos, merchandising stories began to emerge… cool, bohemian, graphic, glam and sporty.
We shot multiple looks on every kid and everyone was enthusiastic. Surprisingly, kids I thought might be awkward on set were carefree. Not surprisingly, kids who started out squinting their eyes under the hot lights relaxed when given the prop they brought to the shoot. I partnered with photographer Timothy Kolk and together we created these images.
